LAWN CARE PROGRAM
Standard Lawn Care Program: Standard six application program consists of all granular, premium quality fertilizers specially formulated for lawns in the St. Louis area. In the Spring the program includes pre-emergent crabgrass control to eliminate crabgrass before it germinates. Weed controls will be applied as needed for control of monocot (grass) and dicot (broadleaf) weeds.
1. Early Spring Application – Mid February to Late March
- Pre-Emergent Crabgrass Control – Controls early germinating Crabgrass seeds.
- Balanced Granular Fertilizer – Provides early green up and stimulates root development
2. Spring Application – Late March to Early May
- Broadleaf Weed Control – Controls existing broadleaf weeds.
3. Early Summer Application – Early May to Mid June
- Balanced Granular Fertilizer-(Summer Rate) – Slow release fertilizer with micronutrients maintain healthy turf thru summer.
- Broadleaf Weed Control – Controls existing broadleaf weeds. Use only where needed.
4. Summer Application – Mid June to Mid August
- Balanced Granular Fertilizer (Summer Rate) – Slow release fertilizer with micronutrients maintain healthy turf thru summer.
- Broadleaf Weed Control – Controls existing broadleaf weeds. Use only where needed.
- Nutsedge Control Program – additional cost for multiple applications to correct severe nutsedge infestations.
5. Fall – Mid August to Mid October
- Balanced Granular Fertilizer – Maintains proper growth of turf. Best time of the season to feed the lawn.
- Broadleaf Weed Control – Controls existing broadleaf weeds. Use only where needed.
- Inspect lawn for Grub Activity and apply Grub control if needed (additional cost).
6. Winterizer – Mid October to December
- Balanced Granular Fertilizer – High Nitrogen soluable fertilizer. Increases carbohydrate level in turf to prepare for winter months and early spring green up.
- Broadleaf Weed Control – Controls existing broadleaf weeds. Use only where needed.
In each application we use granular fertilizers that are formulated for the period of year it is applied. During the spring we use low nitrogen type formulations which are readily available for the grass plant. Our summer applications are low nitrogen formulations, which are usually slow release type products to reduce stress to the lawn. Then in the fall we use higher rates of Nitrogen to help the lawn establish better root systems and recover from the stresses of the summer.
Weed Control – During the growing season we use a variety of herbicides to control a variety of weeds. In the spring we apply our crabgrass control as part of our spring and Early Summer applications. We also use quite a bit of broadleaf weed control in an effort to gain control of the weeds before the heat of the summer. Specialty products are also available for Nutsedge and Annual Grasses.
